There’s something truly special about capturing a family’s love and connection through photography, and my recent session with Penny, Ian, and their daughter Esmay was no exception. Held at The Charterhouse in Coventry, this location provided the perfect backdrop for a morning filled with warmth, laughter, and genuine moments.

I always enjoy shooting at The Charterhouse. It’s a hidden gem in Coventry, offering a variety of beautiful backdrops, from charming historic architecture to peaceful natural surroundings. The fact that it’s usually quiet makes it even better for relaxed and intimate sessions. It’s also easily accessible, making it a great choice for families looking for a scenic yet convenient location.

We scheduled the shoot for a Sunday morning, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. The soft clouds diffused the sunlight beautifully, creating a gentle glow that enhanced every shot. Penny, Ian, and Esmay had such a lovely, calm presence about them, which made the session flow effortlessly.

To ease the family into the shoot, we started with simple poses on the bridge, using the stunning Charterhouse as our backdrop. It’s always important to create a comfortable atmosphere, and this helped set the tone for the rest of the session. Esmay’s radiant personality shone through in every frame—her smile could brighten anyone’s day!

As we wandered through the location, we took time to capture a mix of family portraits, candid moments, and individual shots. One of my favourite spots was a bench opposite a peaceful pond, where the family naturally fell into conversation. I love allowing families time to interact so I can capture their true essence—the little glances, shared laughter, and unspoken love that make their bond unique.

Throughout the session, we ensured a balanced mix of group shots, couple portraits, and special moments between Esmay and each of her parents. These images tell a beautiful story of love, connection, and the joy of simply being together.

Photographing Penny and her family was an absolute pleasure. They were so warm and welcoming, and it was an honour to document their bond in such a meaningful way. I truly believe these images reflect the love they share, and I hope they treasure them for years to come.
